Chris Tucker Will Pass On FRIDAY 4, But Wants To Do RUSH HOUR 4
I honestly thought the big Chris Tucker comeback some of us were waiting for was on the brink of happening with Silver Linings Playbook. After 14 years of nothing but Rush Hour movies, we might see more of the actor from Money Talks, Dead Presidents, and Jackie Brown. Now . . . I’m ready to give up on him after hearing he is trying to get Rush Hour 4 off the ground. As much as I would love to see him return to the Friday franchise as Smokey, I would much rather not see him doing unfunny Rush Hour shtick again. While promoting Playbook, Tucker tells Vulture he wants to “do some different stuff” in lieu of another Friday, and then indicates he is “looking into” a fourth Rush Hour with Jackie Chan. Can someone please tell me what this guy’s deal is? Is this one of the worst handled careers in recent memory? I hope this is all just rhetoric, but it’s hard to have faith in Tucker’s decisions.
ON REUNITING WITH ICE CUBE FOR FRIDAY 4: “The rumor got out there that I’m doing Friday 4, but the Internet — they lying! It’s kind of crazy. My fans are so hyped up about it and I didn’t want to let them down, so at one point I said, “We’ll see,” but I’m pretty sure now I won’t do another one. I’m still fascinated that they love that movie the way they do, and if they do another one, I think it would be good, but I want to do some different stuff. Keep moving.”
ON REUNITING WITH JACKIE CHAN FOR RUSH HOUR 4: “…we’re looking into it, me and Jackie [Chan]. We’re trying to get it going, so we’re developing something, so hopefully we’ll get something in. We really want to take it back to the first one, the realness of it, and explore my character a bit more.”
ICE CUBE TOLD MTV ABOUT A WEEK AGO TUCKER HAS BEEN WRITTEN INTO FRIDAY 4: “With a script, nobody is all the way down until they like their deal and they sign it, so everything is just a theory,” he told us. “He’s written into the movie, and once they give us the green light to start hiring actors, then we’re going to present him with the movie and an offer and we’ll see if he takes it.”
