Michael Keaton Signs On To Play The Villain In ROBOCOP

The RoboCop remake keeps looking better and better . . . According to Deadline, Michael Keaton has agreed to play the film’s villain. Keaton steps in for Hugh Laurie after he failed to reach an agreement with the studio. Keaton joins a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, and Michael Kenneth Williams. The part is Keaton’s biggest role since White Noise in 2005 (The Merry Gentleman was good, but not many people saw it). RoboCop is currently scheduled for release on August 9, 2013. Here is what director Jose Padilha had to say about Keaton joining the cast.

“Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place. It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life. We’ve got a great script, a great cast, some killer ED-209’s and I can’t wait to get Alex Murphy back on the streets.”
