Darren Aronofsky Produced Facebook Thriller XOXO Gets A Director

George Nolfi has been tapped to direct writer Mark Heyman’s (Black Swan) Facebook thriller titled XOXO. Nolfi’s only directing experience was last year’s decent The Adjustment Bureau (he wrote Ocean’s Twelve and The Bourne Ultimatum). According to Variety, the film centers on “an on-the-rise exec who’s engaged to be married but enjoys flirting online. He meets an alluring woman on Facebook and the two begin a virtual relationship, but the Internet romance begins seeping into the protag’s actual life in a deadly way.” Although the project seemingly appears to be Fatal Attraction after the internet was invented, Darren Aronofsky’s attached as a producer could be an indication that XOXO will be than your typical thriller involving an obsessed male/female. Nolfi was on Marvel’s shortlist to helm Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but was passed up in favor of The Russo Brothers. XOXO is being developed at Lionsgate and no timetable has been set for the production.
