According to Variety, Ryan Reynolds has joined Atom Egoyan’s Queen of the Night. Egoyan directed 2009′s Chloe with Liam Neeson and just wrapped the West Memphis Three flick Devil’s Knot starring Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth (he also randomly directed an
episode of the 1987 Friday the 13th TV show). In the story, “Reynolds plays the father who discovers a series of disturbing clues eight years after his daughter is abducted, a trail that leads him to believe the now 17-year old girl is alive. He is determined to find her.” It sounds somewhat interesting, but I’m not completely sold on the premise (or the fact there is a 10% chance it won’t bomb). Safe House was a much needed hit for Reynolds (thanks to Denzel Washington’s face on billboards everywhere), but his star power is sure to be tested in the next year with R.I.P.D (getting terrible buzz), the Highlander reboot, and the long in development Deadpool spin-off (which might never happen if the aforementioned films bomb).
