Marvel Confirms Joss Whedon’s Deal To Return For THE AVENGERS 2
Marvel Studios has wisely agreed to bring Joss Whedon back for The Avengers 2 in 2015. The move makes sense considering Whedon delivered a great superhero flick that also happens to be the third highest grossing film of all-time. Here is the statement released by Marvel via HitFix:
“Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel’s The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe.”
It’s safe to say that by “contribute creatively to the next phase,” Marvel seems to be indicating Whedon will be contributing in some fashion to Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Another solid decision by Marvel considering he has to tie it all together in three years.
