Michael Fassbender Signs On For ASSASSIN’S CREED

According to Variety, Michael Fassbender has agreed to star and co-produce a big screen version of Assassin’s Creed. This is great news for any fans of the game that has sold over 30 million copies since the first installment in 2007.

“Michael Fassbender was our first choice” to play the franchise’s iconic hooded hero, said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”

The game centers on a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts. The first two games took the character to the Crusades and Renaissance, while the third installment (due this October), finds him in the middle of the American Revolution. No time-table has been set for the film, but this could end up being a nice franchise for Fassbender if the studio can produce a decent film. Watch the trailer for Assassin’s Creed III below and I promise you will be sold on the franchise . . .
