Since 2003, Rob Zombie has directed five films: House of a 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, Halloween 1 & 2, and the upcoming Lords of Salem. According to Deadline, Zombie is preparing to step away from the horror genre and into something completely different. According to the report, Zombie is attached to write, produce and direct Broad Street Bullies, a film based on the career of the upstart and ultimately winning ’70s Philadelphia Flyers hockey team. Zombie picked up the film rights to the team and calls the project “Rocky meets Boogie Nights on ice.” Zombie on the project:
“Each character involved is more outrageous than the next. The backdrop of the turbulent year of 1974 is perfect for this ‘stranger than fiction’ sports tale.”
