Nicolas Cage has had a rough couple of years. Since The Sorcerer’s Apprentice became one of the biggest bombs of 2010, Cage has appeared in Season of the Witch, Drive Angry, Seeking Justice, Trespass, and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Cage has a few
promising project coming up (The Frozen Ground and Charlie Kaufman’s Frank or Francis) and the bound-for-DVD Stolen. According to Deadline, Cage has been cast alongside Johnny Knoxville and Juno Temple for a thriller called Wild Side. The report indicates the film follows “a small-town Southern beauty queen (Temple) who is on the run from a ruthless killer (Cage) determined to retrieve diamonds he stole during a murderous heist. Lila Belle Clyde, who walks away with the loot, is a former beauty queen who wants to get away from New Orleans. To do that, she needs to elude authorities, a dogged news reporter, and Odel, a self-described wolf determined to hunt her down and recover his swag.” Cage as a ruthless killer? How can you not been in for that? I don’t believe Cage has played an all-out villain since Kiss of Death in 1995. His specialty these days seems to be possessed men who still manage to fight for the good of mankind.
