Since Battlefield Earth grossed $29 million dollars worldwide on a $73 million dollar budget, director Roger Christian has made American Daylight and Bandido. Yep . . . that is what happens when you make when of the biggest bombs of all time. Shadowland has revealed Christian is currently in pre-production for Stranded. Why is this news? Well . . . the film actually sounds interesting. Christian is calling the picture a mix between Rosemary’s Baby and The Thing as the story follows “four isolated astronauts on board a bio-dome space craft who experience a ghostly intercession after a meteor storm, leading to paranoia, fear and death.” I am a sucker for “lost is space and going crazy” flicks and this sounds right up my alley. Christian told Shadowland:
“We don’t have a creature. Our alien entity, which it is, is born on board. This woman gets pregnant and gives birth in a few days. It’s one of those weird things that happens very fast. The thing that’s on board imitates one of the crew members and takes him over … Our familiar character becomes the monster.”
The report also indicates offers are out to Amanda Crew, Kevin Dillon, Michael Ironside, Tricia Helfer, Nick Stahl, Brendan Fletcher, Peter Facinelli and Luke Goss to star. Feel free to leave Travolta and his ridiculous hair out of the picture . . .
