Casting News From The Last Week . . .
-Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is in talks to reprise his role in a third Journey film. A script has not been written, but the rumor going around is that it will involve the crew heading to the moon. Director Brad Peyton will return to direct. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island has grossed $272 million dollars worldwide. Wow . . .
-Variety is reporting Tom Hardy has signed on to produce and star in an outlaw biker film for Warner Bros. The film is based on a script by Mark L. Smith – based on an idea by John Linson – is about a wounded Vietnam veteran who returns home to San Francisco in 1969 and becomes a key figure in the counter culture of the era.
- Jeremy Renner, Natalie Portman and Javier Bardem are in talks to join Michael Fassbender for The Counselor. The film, directed by Ridley Scott, centers on Fassbender as a respectable lawyer who begins to dabble in the trade of illegal drugs while trying to avoid succumbing to its pitfalls.
-Viola Davis is looking to produce and star in a biopic about Congresswoman Barbara Jordan. Jordan holds the distinction of being the first African American elected to the Texas Senate and the first Southern black female elected to the United States House of Representatives.
-Halloween 3D has officially been pused back to 2013.
-Elle Fanning is set to play the titled character in the long delayed Sleeping Beauty retelling Maleficent. Angelina Jolie is set to play fairy tale’s evil queen.
-And finally, the rumor of the day:
Bruce Boxleitner about a third Tron film shooting in 2014: “Anything could happen, but all I can say is, it’s in its formative stages. [Joseph] Kosinski, who is slated for it, he’s shooting another movie now, and then they’ll get around to doing that. I think somewhere around 2014, maybe. I’m talking way out of school here, but they can’t shoot me because I’m Tron.”
