Some noteworthy casting news from the last few days . . .
-Variety is reporting Gael Garcia Bernal has signed on to play the lead role in Zorro Reborn. The film is a “futuristic” version of the
story. Sounds terrible . . .
-Sienna Miller and Brendan Fraser are the latest to come aboard A Case of You. Justin Long co-wrote, will produce and star in the indie set in the world of online dating. Long plays “a young writer who tries to impress a girl he meets online with an embellished profile, but finds himself in a real mess when she falls for him and he has to keep up the act.”
-Josh Duhamel is under the impression none of the lead actors will be returning for the recently announced Transformers 4: “I don’t think anybody’s doing it. I know Shia [LaBoeuf]‘s not doing it. I don’t think Tyrese or Rosie [Huntington-Whiteley] or anybody else is doing it.”
-Seth Rogen on a potential Pineapple Express sequel: “I don’t know. The Apocalypse essentially has the same cast as Pineapple Express, so maybe we’ll write it while we’re filming.”
-Laurence Fishburne and Kevin Zegers are in final negotiations to star in the sci-fi thriller The Colony. The Synopsis: “A group of underground survivors after the next Ice Age fending off an invasion of feral cannibals.” I think Double Team with Van Damme and Rodman was originally supposed to be called The Colony.
-Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts have joined the feature adaptation of the Pulitzer/Tony-winning play August: Osage County. The play follows “the women of a family whose lives have splintered in many directions until a crisis bring them back
to their childhood home and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them.”
-Dennis Quaid and Jennifer Aniston have joined the Jackie Brown prequel titled Switch. The film features the characters Louis Gara and Ordell Robbie, originally played by Robert De Niro and Jackson in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown. The two join John Hawkes and Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def). You can read the plot details by clicking here.
